The most important property of watercolor painting is the transparency and softness of the thinnest paint layer. Whitewash as an excessively dense paint is not used at all in this technique (they are replaced by the white color of the paper shining through the painting).
Cards made using this this technique are particularly original. Because the final result is visible only when dry.
